For Games 16-20 in WHL20 season, the WHL is proud to announce this week's 3 stars, presented by Pepsi.
WHL 3rd Star of the Week: Ryan Kesler, Rocky Mountain Express – Kesler did it all this week for the Express and gets the nod for this week’s third star. He was extremely valuable on the special teams scoring 2 power play goals, 1 short-handed goal and taking important faceoffs in his own zone. His 7 goals was second amongst goal scorers in the WHL this week. Scoring 1 game-winner, and a +/- rating of +3, Kesler helped power the Express to a 3-2-0 record on the week.
WHL 2nd Star of the Week: Ray Whitney, Atlantic Schooners – Whitney continues to defy age for the Atlantic Schooners and helped lead his team to a 4-1-0 record this past week with 6 goals, 4 assists and a +6 rating. Whitney is the Schooners’ leading scorer this season with 16 goals and 12 assists in 20 games played. His +18 leads the team as well. Whitney’s leadership and contributions on the ice will no doubt continue to power the Schooners to success this season.
WHL 1st Star of the Week: Chris Kunitz, Saskatoon Fighting Irish – Kunitz led the league in scoring this week with 9 goals and 3 assists for the 4-1-0 Fighting Irish. His +10 was tops on the team. His value was demonstrated on the special teams where he scored 2 power play goals and added 1 short-handed tally. The leading scorer on the Irish this season, Kunitz has scored 21 goals and added 11 assists in just 20 games played.
